Significance shortage of employees in the IT sector

More and more companies in the Netherlands are struggling with a shortage of personnel. According to ING this also applies to the Dutch IT sector and it is estimated that by 2023 there will be shortage of 54,000 IT professionals. This shortage of professionals can lead to inadequate cybersecurity and a higher risk of a data security breaches. 

According to the FD, the Dutch IT sector has a considerable shortage of employees. In 2020, there were 83,000 vacancies in the IT sector, for which only 17,000 graduates were available. It is forecasted that in the coming years the shortage of IT professionals and open vacancies will grow even further.
